Blueridge is our main family band from the past. Billed as a "country rock" band at the time, Blueridge played an eclectic mix of traditional country music, honky tonk, country rock and at times, even countryfied reggae!
Blueridge toured the UK from the mid 90's to 2005 and was the successor to our other family bands such as Shiloh Country (70's), and The Riker Brothers (80's).
You can listen to Blueridge's albums on Spotify via the playlists on the right, and also on all the other usual streaming outlets.
The band members for Blueridge were as follows...
Jimmy Hicken - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar.
Alexander Hicken - Vocals
Mally Hicken - Vocals, Guitar, Fiddle and Mandolin.
The Blueridge album from 2000 also had Tommy Hunt on lead guitar and a pianist who was unfortunately left uncredited.
Some were produced at the University of York whilst the majority were produced by Richard Formby at his studio in Leeds.
Originally on a cassette called "Running Kind", Blueridge '95 is an EP from the mid 90s.
This was produced at a studio in Cross Green, Leeds. 3 of the songs were professionally taken from the master tape and used again on CD.
The other 3 were left on cassettes. To bring these up to date, we recently employed Ben Pike of Rare Tone Mastering to clear these up. He's done a great job. The restored songs are "Bayou Girl", "Close Up The Honky Tonks", and Workin' Man Blues".
Steven Hicken Sr. - Pedal Steel Guitar, Backing Vocals
Jerry Hicken - Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals.
The Late and Great, Tommy Lee Whitaker - Drums, Backing Vocals.
